These are the first pictures in the Main Sreet Dallas Series.

This is the original library in Dallas on Main St. and it was the children's library when I was growing up. It is the place where I fell in love with books. Mrs. Rudolph was the librarian then and she's still at the library now. There's a new library now, but this is what I'll always think of when I think of "the library." Below is a picture of the old "Adult" library. My most vivid memory of it was sitting in the upstairs room reading parts of "Forever" by Judy Blume. It took me months to be brave enough to check that book out.

Main Street

This is Main Street. It isn't much different than many small towns. There are a few stores, a bank, and some offices. At first glance it really isn't much. It offers more than you would think.

Look at it differently and you might discover some extraordinary things.

This is one of my favorite views of Huntsville Dam. This is a natural made reservoir that supplies much of the water to the town. People do not have access to it, although I do know that on rare occasions they have snuck in. On this side I think it is the only area where you get a clear view of the water, the rest is surround by trees. This spot has always been clear and when we have very rainy weather the water almost touches the road. The road is paved now and there are a few houses on the opposite side--building is prohibited on the water side--but the view hasn't changed since I've been coming here.

I have lived in the same town for thirty-seven years. I've often caught myself saying things like "there is nothing to do here," "It's so boring," "We don't have anything exciting to offer." You know the routine. When you look at something the same way for so long it does look stale and boring. Recently I decided to open my eyes. What I've found is that my little town has more to offer than I thought. Every morning I wake up to the most beautiful sunrises. I've taken walks and have found gorgeous scenery, historic houses, and amazing things. This blog will be what I have found in my little corner of the world, a small town in Northeastern, PA called Dallas. That's right Pennsylvania, not Texas. This is the Other Dallas.

People from Dallas will probably not believe that Huntsville Road is right behind this tree and when the sun comes up the view is much different. There are houses everywhere.
