I dug up an oldie for Jay's Blogging for Books. Read the story here.

While doing some research, I came across a picture of my great-great grandmother, Nellie Hislop. I don't have permission to post the picture, so here's the link. The names are messed up on the description, but she's the only girl in the picture, and her name is written on the photo. I had never seen a picture of her before, and I just thought this was very cool. The second man on the left in the first row, "Coon" Honeywell might be a relative too. I don't know a lot about my dad's side of the family, but I know I have Honeywell relatives. I also learned that the Honeywell's were the among the first people to live in my town. If these are my relatives, then my house is located on the site of the original Honeywell farm.

That is such a cool photo of your great grandmother. What was a wee girl doing out there with all those drinking men? What were they drinking? Maybe it was lemonade. I love old photos. I also love ghost stories. That's a good idea.

Wow! That is amazing! I have no such history of my family on either side; no idea who my great-great granparents -- or even great-grandparents even were! How cool.

Shelagh,
I thought it was so awesome that she was the only girl there! I think it might be a NA beverage, because another young one is drinking it. Who knows though. I know nothing about the photo. It says she owned a restruant, but I was always told it was a bar, so maybe she was gathering her patrons early!
