Illustration Friday, my hero.

Also known as hoagie, sub, etc. depending on where you live. Actually, I never call it a hero, it's a sub or hoagie to me, but for the purpose of this illo, it worked for me.

Of course, the first thing I thought of for this topic was all of my people heroes, but this idea popped into my head while I was walking, so I went with it.

Illustration Friday

For this weeks topic, black and white, I decided to play around in Photoshop with some images I already had. I kind of like the way they turned out. Both could have easily worked for last week's topic (summer), too.

An enchanted summer's evening

Most of us miss out on life's big prizes. The Pulitzer. The Nobel. Oscars. Tonys. Emmys. But we're all eligible for life's small pleasures. A pat on the back. A kiss behind the ear. A four-pound bass. A full moon. An empty parking space. A cracking fire. A great meal. A glorious sunset. Hot soup. Cold beer. Don't fret about copping life's grand awards. Enjoy its tiny delights. There are plenty for all of us.

Today's Message
from the Universe

Good evening fellow adventurer!

Question: What would it take, what would have to happen in your life these days, for you to allow yourself to really kickback, relax and just enjoy?

Answer: Whatever it is, you will achieve it, earn it, acquire it, or experience it SO MUCH FASTER... if you first... kickback, relax and just enjoy.

Your friend,

The Universe

Ok, so if the Universe really wants me to kickback, relax and just enjoy, then why did it have me plan a graduation party the same week that my computer decided to go haywire making me lose 3 days of work with a deadline looming? It just proves that it has a wicked sense of humor! LOL. Wish me luck!

When I received this weeks topic, Summer, a thousand images popped into my head. I decided to just start sketching them, and this is the result. I love summer. I wish I could have illustrated all my thoughts, but there aren't enough hours in the day. What's your favorite thing about summer?

I have been having major publishing problems, that is, I haven't been able to publish anything. I am in the process of switching my host, so this might be a little messed up here for a bit. Bear with me. I'm working on it, and will have everything transfered ASAP.

Well that was the easiest switch over ever. There was a potential for a 24-48 hour wait, and there was none. Easy. I like that. Now a little plug for my new easy, breezy web host: www.womenonwriting.com/hosting/index.htm

Anyone who is a parent knows parenting is not an exact science. We question just about everything we do. Did I let him have to much freedom? Was I too over protective? Bottle or breastfeed? Cloth or disposable? Did I tramatize her forever by not letting her have (fill in the blank)?

They do silly things, and test the boundaries, making us wonder if anything we say sinks in. Or, it makes us question if we told them the right things. Maybe I should have done that different. Did I say the wrong thing. Did I miss something?

We wonder if we have done right by them, and helped them become the best person they could be. And, then sometimes, in small ways, they let us know we have. On Friday night my son called me from work to tell me to look outside. Here's what I found:

We may run, walk, stumble, drive, or fly, but let us never lose sight of the reason for the journey, or miss a chance to see a rainbow on the way.~Gloria Gaither

He knows I love rainbows, and he knew this would make me smile. Yep, I did good!
